What is Jerk Research?

This is the place for anyone who wants to better understand the difficult people in their lives, including themselves.

Conflict is an inevitable part of life. As social animals we depend on other people to survive and thrive. It’s not possible to make everyone happy all the time, so we’re all bound to both meet jerks and be called jerks at some point in our lives.

However, in our increasingly collaborative world relying on each other is more important than ever. Increasing incivility and destructive conflict is disrupting life-saving, world-changing teamwork.

Fortunately, conflict doesn’t have to be scary or unpleasant. With the right tools, conflict is actually productive.

We aim to:

  • Curate and integrate conflict research into practical workplace solutions
  • Help teams implement those workplace conflict solutions
  • Generate new research on interpersonal conflict
  • Increase collaboration between diverse fields already studying conflict (including ethics, law, business, psychology, animal behavior, interpersonal neurobiology, and the art of communication.)
  • Encourage others to contribute and spread the word, because conflict affects us all.

People rarely like conflict, but that’s exactly why it’s important to understand. Explore how we can help you.
